A Solid Mental Foundation

Uncategorized May 30, 2022

Welcome to Mind Focused Monday, where I support you in remembering the POWER of a still, TRULY FOCUSED MIND.

This week, let me support you in starting to build a solid foundation away from unnecessary mental agitation. Building a still, peaceful, loving, spacious mind as a foundation. I will emphasize keywords of guidance, like Still, Peaceful, Loving, Spacious mind, as words for you to use either out loud or in your mind’s eye, as a guide, a reminder or a mantra in the week ahead.

Slowly start now ……..thinking deeply about the possibility of a Still, Peaceful, Loving, Spacious mind as the backdrop against which your mind plays out. Really imagine a life in which in every situation your perception is now totally infused with Stillness, Peacefulness, Love & Spaciousness. Let’s agree, It would be truly amazing, wouldn’t it?

So what’s a subtle but huge mind-changing step that we can take towards this Still, Peaceful, Loving, Spacious mind space? Let me tell you that you can give up violence towards yourself and others.

Let’s dive into the topic of non-violence against the self and others while relating it specifically to emptying the mind Lovingly.

Examples include:

Negative internal self-talk or “the shitty committee” as I like to call it, chuntering away in your head, plain and simple, is an act of violence.

Internal judgments that you’re quietly making at any time about yourself or others are acts of violence.

Listen closely to the internal criticisms about yourself or others, this is another act of violence.

So what can we do?

Firstly, what’s interesting is that even deeply considering the idea of violence against the self acts as a helpful magnifying glass. It can begin to shock us into a realisation of how not loving we are so often being.

Secondly, just starting to project the opposite of violence takes us to a place of peace and love. Even if we are not yet able to fully access the states of peace and love, we develop the awareness and realisation that if the violence was no longer present we would have peace & love.

Change as I’ve said before is not about adding something, it’s about letting go of old obsolete ideas, beliefs, values, identities and structures that no longer support or serve us.

Our two million-year-old monkey minds are engineered to focus on two things; keeping us safe and ‘protecting’ our social status.  They stop us from being at peace, relaxing, appreciating beauty, smelling the roses and being in the present moment.

Why? Because the monkey hasn’t been taught to recognize whether or not something is a real threat.  It has to guess and mostly its risk assessment is on the side of safety.   It classifies common occurrences like traffic jams, work deadlines, arguments with our partner and meeting new people in the same category as being chased by a sabre-tooth tiger.

It doesn’t take time to pause and reflect, instead it hits the alarm telling our bodies that ding-ding-ding something is wrong.  It happens so often that it leaves most of us feeling anxious, stressed, overloaded and overwhelmed.

Have an amazing week and remember that for those of you ready for change, commit to a life without violence and take action by letting go of another layer now.

This really is about a deeply intended life, with aspirational effort, moment to moment, one breath at a time.

So drop violent self-talk by sacking the Shitty committee, stop judging and start observing while reflecting on the opposite which is peace & love! You know you deserve it, your true self-awakening, a still, quiet focused mind, that is you loving peacefully.
